Winter Reverie

As I lay asleep on the couch,

I hear these sounds go tap, tap, tap.

I opened my eyes and gazed outside,

And saw the canopies flap, flap, flap.

I thought it was just a dream,

So I closed my eyes to dream a real dream.

The wind is strong, it sings a song,

Blowing and hissing outside my home.

I asked myself, “Is this a real dream?”

For I shall wake up, and stop dreaming.

As I woke up and peered through the window,

The Cypress trees were swaying to-and-fro!

Outside the door as I stood watching,

The wind continued to sing,

Loud and strong, I started dancing.

This is real, it is not a dream!

It feels so cold and it is chilling,

Yet it feels good, dancing with the wind.

I smell the fragrance of the Cypress trees,

Wafted by the winter breeze.

How sweet of you, Cypress trees,

But I must go in, I might sneeze and freeze!

Angels do Fly

I looked around

And there was darkness before my eyes.

I looked up the skies,

And I saw clouds, yellow as candle light.

I gazed up one more time,

And I saw white clouds

Like angels flying by.

Winter Birds and Trees

You leave me naked

In the coldness of the winter.

Lifeless as it may seem,

Hope springs

When lovely birds come warbling

As they flit from one

Lifeless twig to another.

They give comfort

In their own little ways.

Teasing Waves

I stood by the grove taking in the air

And the smell of the oceans wafted by the sea breeze.

I listened to the sounds of the rolling waves

As it repeatedly crashed against the rock.

I watched the waves hit the surface of the flat rock,

Like foams dispersing to fall back to the oceans.

Ocean waves hit and tease the rocks!

Anxious Flower

Like a flower nourished with love

from heavens above,

Gently, she is touched by the soft sunlight.

Throughout the years when the rain pours,

She stood firm even in the midst of storm.

Like a flower, she may be wild,

From nowhere she carefully stands out.

She is quiet, she is serene,

Often times, she is not seen.

Among the bushes and the thickets,

She simply delights being unnoticed.

She fears to get picked, and fall

In the arms of an unkind soul.

My Travels

I shall travel with ease,

From north to south

And from east to west.

From the knolls to the hills,

To the highest mountain peak.

Across the vastness

Of the oceans and the seas,

I shall bravely venture

Through the roughness of the waves.

In their stillness

I shall float and rest,

Let the smooth waves

Sweep me softly to the beach.

Pray that I could walk offshore,

And be with my young ones

Now and forever more.

Above the firmament

I shall freely drift,

Rejoice with the  angels

Whose voices so sweet.

Must I descend by His command,

To meet the souls

Of whose time is at hand,

There is no tarry, I’ll be a fairy

To be at their side along the way.

Should there be time

That I must be at land,

I’ll fly like an eagle

Fly swiftly, and swoop down.

Our Light

You are the sun

That shines upon us.

Your dazzling light

Turns dusky days so bright.

Creatures wake at the break of dawn,

To welcome you rise above the horizon.

The warmth of your delicate rays

Comfort us in so many ways,

You are the sunlight

That brightens our darkest days.

Each day in the morning as you rise,

You are like the prince,

Who wakes the princess

With a sweet kiss.

Only could we live in heavenly bliss,

Should nothing obscure your golden rays.

At the end of the day

As you set down,

Faces of creatures,

I see them frown.

Nay, I say to them,

“Do not feel down,”

For behind the horizon,

The moon shall rise.

As it starts beaming,

Darkness will turn into light.
