Glorious May

‘Tis the month of May

And the clouds are gray.

Spring is almost over,

In time, it will be summer.

Early in the morning,

Mists cover the valley.

Over the hills and the mountains,

The trees sway and dance in the coldness of  rain.

The shrubs are still verdant green,

The wildflowers are alive once again.

In the meadow, butterflies fly by,

And a gracious hummingbird

come frolicking before thine eyes!

Glorious is this month of May,

Gracious Lord, we thank You

Day by day!

The Carcass

If I were a human,

I would be a septuagenarian.

But I am just a relic,

Full of memories of a clan.

I have been in the corner of the kitchen

At the old family house in Daklan.

Once looked perfect with soft

cushion, colored yellow and brown.

Each time when somebody comes

home or just to visit alone,

Like a seat of throne,

I was there ready to be sat on.

For countless years that so many

people have sat on me,

One of my legs broke one day.

I feared I would be thrown away,

But, alas! My leg was fixed by your father.

Not only that I stood up once more,

But I had a new and soft cushion,

And a new cover, patiently

crocheted by your mother.

Once again, I was happy

To be useful for the family.

Through the years, and moving on,

Each of you have fully grown.

You all had your own families,

Most of you have left home.

Your parents built a new home,

Up in the mountain they own.

They took me there, too,

I was so happy for the two.

Oh! Time flies, it does not tarry.

One becomes old, sick and weary.

Your father has long been gone,

While your mother

Is now an elderly woman.

I, too, have become useless

Left outside amongst the trees.

I bathe in the rain,

Bask under the sun,

And I let the pine breeze

Brush through my surface.

I wonder how I have become,

Only if I were a human.

But I am just a carcass,

In time, I too, shall pass.

Somewhere in the ocean of contemplation, I have caught some words of wisdom.

Beauty is just like the sun. Its rays radiate throughout the vast space of the universe. Although some of the rays’ brightness do not reach the grounds, the rays remain golden. They are just obscured by dark clouds.

Meeting Life and Mother Nature

You beckoned my soul to a place unknown to me,

Led me on a road so rugged, narrow, and windy.

To the left and to the right I go,

I followed the directions that you show.

Endless road it seems to me,

Turning back is more than dreary.

I must go forward to find my destiny,

So I prayed to God to guide and lead me.

You hearkened to my soul and you read my mind.

You were always beside me and never left me behind.

I came upon a vast and spacious plain,

Decorated by nature with plants in brilliant verdure.

Sheltered me with lofty skies, gentle breezes, and fine weather.

My heart swelled with happiness, full of joy and laughter.

I thank the Lord our God, and our creator!

You commanded my spirit to soar higher to the mountain,

So I trudged up with courage, patience, and determination.

My heart was racing and the body in pain,

Tired and weary, as I set foot on top of the mountain.

Night fell, my eyes surrendered to slumber.

I slept through the night, under the skies of summer.

As I woke up on a new day,

You allured my eyes with nature’s beauty.

You directed my steps to the wilderness,

I continued to walk amidst the trees.

You called my name and I listened carefully,

I followed that gentle voice, that was not a folly!

I was not crazy, it was not a fantasy,

I faced Mother nature, with her stunningly perpetual beauty.

I sat beside her and immersed my whole being in her.

Never did I hear a word from her, but only silence enchanting as ever,

So eloquent,  that virtually no lips of humans could utter.
